COVID-19: FG About to Disinfect Schools Across The Country

The federal government continues to come out with measures in its fight against the spread of corona virus in Nigeria.

In its efforts to prevent the devastating spread of coronavirus in the country, the federal government has announced that it is initiating a programme of disinfecting of schools nationwide.

The minister of environment, Muhammad Mahmood made this known to the general public on monday, 4th of May at the Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 that the schools would be disinfected before they open.

As reported by Daily Trust, the minister said the Ministry of Environment is liaising with the federal Ministry of Education to get the data of all schools nationwide in order to carry out the exercise.

He said, “We’re initiating a programme of decontaminating and disinfecting our schools before they open. Because subsequently in the phases (of relaxing the lockdown), I believe we’ll get to that point when we start opening the schools.
“So, we’ll be liaising with the Federal Ministry of Education to make sure we have the needed data to carry out the exercise.”

Mahmood did not reveal when the disinfection exercise would start but he noted that the Ministry of Environment has been making efforts to begin the programme.

He advised all students to stay at home for now pending when the disinfection would be completed.
